My latest credit card statement had a charge of$69.95 going to ACT*ACTIVE-NETWORK.
I had no idea what it could be, and contacted my Visa card customer service. I had the charge removed.
Curious, I looked atprevious years' statements and found the same $69.95 charge on the same date last year
; I didn't notice that one at the time.
I'm still not sure, but I wonder this is connected to something that I unwittingly did while making an online reservation through Reserve America. Has anyone else seen an ACT*ACTIVE-NETWORK charge on their credit card statement, and do you have any idea what it was for?
you signed up for a 'free trial' somewhere that was promoted by 'Active Network'. When your free trial was over they billed you because you didn't click a box somewhere or contact them that you did not want their annual membership.
Here is a line directly from their website:
What happens after the trial period?
If at the end of your trial you wish to keep your membership, no further action is needed.
Once the trial period ends, your annual membership is in place, which costs
$69.95 annually

THIS link really shows how wide spread this scam is and how it is connected to state parks activities. And statements from people who were scammed and where boxes you needed to check or uncheck could have be hidden.
