Way back in the early 70's as a military recuiter I covered a large area of Colorado (500 sq miles) and was required to travel hundreds of miles a month for recruiting purposes summer or winter. Coming home one night from Denver driving on the freeway miles from anywhere in a nasty suprise blizzard the governmet Jeep died. It was really very cold maybe in the teens, and I was at least 15 miles from the closest off ramp. Back then you could not have a CB in the government car and the cell phone was not a everyday item. Anyway I always carried a CB because of the big area and miles I covered. I got on 19 and called for assistance... about 15 minutes later a Big Rig pulled up behind me and called back. I explained what was happening and he told me to come back to the Rig and get warm. I had no coat just a very light jacket and the Jeep would not run so no heater and it was like ice in the vehical. After a few minutes of getting warm, I got back in the jeep and he drove off. About 20 minutes later another Big Rig pulled in behind me and told me to come get warm. This happened several times over the next 2 hours. Then a vehical from the other way showed up and a guy jumps out and has a fuel pump with him. Said that one of the truckers that had stopped told him he had checked and that the Jeep needed one. The guy replaced the fuel pump and wrote down all the info from my government credit card and left. I made it home that night and all ended well.
