That's pretty much an amazing story. I've had troubles on motorcycles and with other vehicles in the past of it's not unusual to brows around in the ditch and find items that can help but it would be very unusual to find the exact part you need. My own finds were a piece of lumber to use under a jack etc.
Should anything similar occur in the future consider simply removing that tire or even both tires from that axle and traveling carefully on a single axle. When an unexpected 'excursion into a ditch at highway speed" happened to me I exploded the tire and wheel and the spindle was bent so badly that traveling even with my spare on was impossible. I traveled the 30 miles into Corpus Christi on three wheels. The trailer actually towed very normally this way but I held speeds down to 40 MPH for the entire trip and threw away the tire on the other side of that axle when I got to a place to make repairs.
