Upgrade WDH?

Hi all!

I had a friend that borrowed my current WDH and wanted to know if he could purchase it. I had kinda wanted to upgrade to a dual cam setup anyway, so this gave me the excuse.

I found this not too far away on craigslist:

I emailed and found out that it was a 12k hitch with 750 bars. My TT is about 5200 dry. Any concern about having too large of a hitch (drawbacks)? Price seem good?

Thanks!!!

  • Yes,
The dual cam system works very well once you have it set up correctly and dialed in...but, you still need to get the proper size bars for your rig.
Again, I think 750's might be too light.
  • I would think this would still be an improvement from my old one? Just a regular one with friction sway control.
  • That's the old style Dual Cam...
But, I would want heavier bars. Even at dry weight (which is meaningless) you will have around 700 lbs of tongue weight.

Realistically, you are looking at about 800 lbs of tongue weight.
Only way to know for sure is load your rig trip ready and hit the scales.
