I am one camper that is disgusted by the increased use of generators while dry camping. More than once, generator noise throughout the campground has damped our enjoyment of the outdoors. I also feel that just because the campground "rules" allow them, it doesn't stop me from getting upset.
When I see the generator posts regarding "the best", and that sort of thing, I force myself to keep my mouth shut regarding the noise and inconsideration associated with it. I don't feel it's appropriate to chime in about the noise levels, unless it is asked.
But this post is the perfect opportunity to chime in. The only difference with me is that I don't have a generator at all and while in conserve mode, we can dry camp for up to 5 days.
Many people nowadays, associate dry camping with the use of a generator, so they can make coffee in the morning and watch tv in the afternoon. Another direction we are headed that I'm not happy with.
How about those of us who need medical equipment? Are we not supposed to dry camp? If generators bother you that much perhaps you should use private campgrounds that do not allow the use of generators. Also, it seems to me that we always blame the motorhome crowd for all of the problems. Don't forget that most of us started out sleeping in tents and worked our way up to a motorhome. We are an older crowd and just not able to rough it to the extent we used to but we still enjoy being outdoors.
That is correct, you are not supposed to dry camp (and is running a generator dry camping? I thought dry camping meant no electricity and very quiet, very natural). You are not supposed to ruin other peoples experiences no matter your excuse. That is like me saying I have a medical need of ultra bright lights,,, and then blasting them all night at your camper. No rules against it (in most places).
Honestly, the way movie theater auditoriums are pitch black except the screen stresses my eyes and I have a 10% chance of a headache. I would be far more comfortable with the room partially lit (0% chance of headache). I betcha I could even get a doctors note. Would it be right for me to force everybody else to experience the movie the way I 'need' to? I mean, I have my medical reason!! The room lit up a little isn't gonna be that bad for anybody!
You are setting a very selfish precedent here. The needs of the one outweighing the needs of the many.
Think about it, and remember you are only one among billions. You are NOT special in any way, despite what all the songs say.
That was kind of rude.
