used tires good or bad idea??

I recently purchased a set of Firestone tires for my 27 ft coachman Santara that are one year old ,and abt a third of the thread left on them ,,they ride very smooth and balance on them is perfect, they were taken off an EMT ambulance..I gave $$160 for 5 of them with the heavy duty brass valve stems..GOOD or Bad idea??????

    I would not have a problem running them if I was taking short trips close to home. If I was planning to travel long distances at higher speeds in heat like here in Texas, I would pay the price for new ones for peace of mind.

    I asked this same question earlier this year. I purchased a used set (over 1/2 tread and about 3 yrs old)and ran them for a few months on my coach .In the back of my mind I never trusted the tires.
    So for my piece of mind and my families safety I bit the bullet and bought six new tires. Yes there expensive, but how much is safety and piece of mind worth. with an older coach like mine there will always be some small issue to deal with, but for the near future ,,tires will not be for me..
