That was recommended by a Thetford engineer, and published in a paper at an FMCA session.
I don't have a Sani-Con, but a Flojet portable macerator is virtually the same. I do this all the time (run the black through, stop, leave the black tank valve open, open the grey, let the tanks equalize, close the grey, dump, repeat once more, then empty the grey completely, closing both valves.
I highly recommend a clear plastic sleeve so you have a headstart at turning the pump off. Running it dry will kill it in seconds.
