A while back we had a thread going with the pro's and con's of the Va State Park Dog fee's ($5 per night, per dog-max 3 nights) there were a lot of thoughts of better ways to offset the "cost" of pet'...

Let's face it, Virginia State Parks are going to continue to charge extra fees no matter what the people here on this forum say, They have got away with it for the past seven years that I know of so why would they change now? Because of the dog owners, NO, they don't want us in the state parks. That is basically what Nancy Heltman said to me in 2006. So, I will continue to camp at the COE parks, with a waterfront site, NC State parks and Pa State parks and leave the Va State parks to the elite non dog owners. To OP, fight it if you can but I have my doubts you will succeed.
By the way, There is great Boondock camping/fishing at the Virginia WMA's and the price can't be beat (no dog charge/service)
