Va State Parks & Dog fees
A while back we had a thread going with the pro's and con's of the Va State Park Dog fee's ($5 per night, per dog-max 3 nights) there were a lot of thoughts of better ways to offset the "cost" of pet'...

I was just at First landing state Park. Had a great time lots of workers doing lots of things. The place was full well kept and well run.
Despite the dog fees there were plenty of dogs I had a great site even without a site specific reservation system. I had a great time.
VA has a great system just the way it is. All the naysayers that avoid VA y have found their Utopian CG in a another state.
If you go camping to simply escape the rat race you will have an enjoyable trip.
If you go to control/observe or change the behavior of others. You will have an uphill battle.
If you choose to challenge the management staff and policies in place or keep the rat trace going while you are camping vs. leaving it at home you will inhibit your camping experience.
I will let VA manage the CG while I camp and relax. If you look for problems and issues you will find them. If you simply look to relax and enjoy yourself you can have a great time. It's really not that hard!
