Far easier to stay away when you live in CA then it is when you live 20 miles from the border. I don't like the dog fees, but have to give credit where credit is due. When some(most?) other states are leaving their park systems to rot and decay, VA has been adding big rig capable sites, along with bath houses with private shower rooms, and paved roads and pads. The money has to come from somewhere. They also consistently rank very high against other park systems, and first a couple of times in recent years. We will continue to visit.
I agree. VA has a great system. The days of the taxpayers picking up the full tab are over. The money has to come from somewhere. Dog fees , reservation fees are all ways to collect revenue to maintain the parks.
