venting portable air/heat unit

Need suggestions how to install venting for portable air/heat unit in van to be run by external compressor?

Thank you for responses, sorry for not making it clear. Since I have rubber matting on floor I will cut through sides down near floor. My greatest concern is a tight fit for the outlet to connect the hose that is provided with the portable units. How can I make sure exhausting air does not leak inside or return?

  • Vented mine through the floor on a slide-out. Used a toilet flange bolted to the floor (cut hole through floor) and adapted the flexible hose to it with metal fitting. Put screen wire on outside part of toilet flange to keep bugs out.

I just posted this down the page is this what you are wanting to do?

Portable air conditioners are becoming popular these days.

    This is the concept...

Here is a photo of a typical installation

Sounds like a trip to LOWES to me...

  • Not understanding what you are asking about. A portable is usually one piece, the better models have a vent hose to the outside.

Two part units usually have evaporator/blower on the inside unit, condenser and compressor together on the external part, connected by coolant lines.

Do you have a specific model in mind?
