I have changed cell phone plans to get the service that I need while I travel. My new plan with ATT has 20 Gig of data and can be used for tethering. It costs around $140/mon with 2 phones. I am out of contract so I can move anytime.They have an unlimited plan for $150 but no tethering. What plans do you have, and how much do they cost, with ATT or Verizon that include tethering and 15 to 20 Gig of data? We use Verizon, two phones, 10 gigs of data, unlimited text/voice, no charge for mobile hot spot. $98 a month. You are right, these plans change faster than anyone can keep up with.

Cost between the two is going to be very closr. The difference is in service area. There are many places we go where the only choice is Verizon if you want to make a phone call.

Verizon Plans18 GB will cost you $100/month, plus you will have $20/phone "access" fee. Data is shared between the phones, and tethering works fine.Of course that $140 will have taxes/fees on top of it, and you will have to buy Verizon phones.

I had a Verizon work phone for 20 years and ATT as my personal phone. Some places one worked, some places the other worked....like Yosemite. ATT worked better there.

Neither of the phone companies NEVER offer a plan without their best interest in mind. They always have some caveat that keeps the plan from fitting your every need. I think they spend a lot of time on research to make sure you never get a good deal.

ATT was offering a lot of gigs, but won't let you tether. I had an old ATT plan with unlimited data, but no tethering.

Recently, I had an issue with ATT where they were not even close to what Verizon was offering. I wanted out of country service (Canada) for 30 days. Verizon was something like $10.00 for 100 minutes. ATT was $5.00 for 100 text and some data, but a $1.00 a minute for calls. I could almost get satellite phone service for that. They refused to match the Verizon plan, even with threatening to change service. Finally, they gave me a $20.00 discount for three months. It's worth it to challenge and argue a little.

I have both. I have a 15gb plan with AT&T and 2 phones and a mobile hotspot BUT I'm also including the cost of the phone in monthly installments and pay $206/month.

For a vast majority of the time, the mobile hotspot is off because we have an unlimited data plan for a Verizon hotspot. I bought this from a reseller ($900 one-time fee) and then my monthly bill is $70-80/month.

As for coverage- I've found they're about equal. AT&T works better in some places and Verizon works better in others. Some place, neither works at all.

We have AT&T. Three phones with 40GB of data and we pay $155 after taxes.

We have thought about switching to Verizon or Sprint but Verizon is too much moolah and the service at Sprint isn't as good as AT&T.

I'm with Verizon because where we spend most of out time, AT&T doesn't provide service and Verizon does...Verizon also offers MORE coverage than any other carrier..Based on camping experiences in the mountains SC, NC, TN, VA and WVa..I'll pay for what works where we spend most of our time. I'm a Direct TV customer, but "bundling" makes no sense, if AT&T coverage isn't provided in the places we spend most of our time.

I went on that plan and found out that I could not tether. I called back and changed to the 20 gig with tethering. $140 something.
