I've never had my RV cord feel hot. Sounds like an electrical problem perhaps at the pedestal. That is why you should always use a surge protector. Plug that in first then if it shows ok, plug in your RV cord to it. I've had my surge protector tell me that the polarity was reversed on one campsite so I did not plug in my RV. I called the office and they moved me to another site that checked out ok. I don't know what would have really happened if I would have plugged in my RV without my surge protector to that reversed polarity site. A good surge protector is cheaper than replacing or fixing damaged appliances in your RV. Just a thought. Of course I don't know if that would have solved the problem you experienced.
