A coiled cord will absolutely heat up.
Heat up from what? Electricity having to move in a circle?
The cords ability to dissipate the heat it generates while in use is severely impacted when coiled up. With enough current for a long enough period, the insulation could potentially melt. Am I saying it's overly dangerous in a 30A RV application to coil the cord? Probably not. But it *can* heat up.
This is the same reason the electrical code tells you that you need to keep wires spaced a certain amount, etc, when you wire up a residence or other property.
