Veterans camp sites

I just got my veterans card and have heard others talk about military base RV sites.
Can anyone tell me how you reserve a site?
Thinkling about the one in Key West

  • Normally, you can call the MWR at each base and reserve a site. For those that don't know, MWR is morale, welfare and recreation. At least, that's what it's called on Air Force installations.
  • Jack could you tell us what is meant by getting your Veterans card. Thanks

CLICKY has a list and the eligibility requirements and I don't think your Veterans Card will qualify you for most military campgrounds, but it wouldn't hurt to call and check since there are variances in the policy base to base. I know the one in Key West is first come first served with no ressies and the overflow lot which usually has space has no hookups and few facilities.

    Good Luck.

  • Here is the web site. http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/ Don't assume you can use them until you check out further. Some (very, very few) anybody can use, but MOST (99%) you have to have an military ID card (CAC card, the new name) Example; if you have PX or commissary access you should have access to MWR facilities.

And as a side note, they are not as cheap as they used to be.
