This is a video of the making of a new 453 smart car. This is the gas version. There is a shorter video on the electric out there somewhere as well.

Length still the same but 100mm or so wider.

The 453 is available in Europe now but wont be in the small markets (USA etc) until 2015.

It will be interesting to see how sales go as much of the original fleet of 1.6 million vehicles are getting up there in age.

    We had a 450 and now have a 451, odd that they used the 452 designation for the roadster.

    Yah I noticed that too. The roadster will not be coming here.

    By the way, this is the plant in Smartville on the french side of the border. Nice quiet factory isn't it.

    Kinda like an egg. :) Still not a car I want to be in in an accident...so We'll try to avoid that. We tend to drive it like I drive a motorcyle. Best never to have an attitude...unless its defensive. :)
