Love it! Thanks for the post.We just visited the RV museum in Indiana earlier this year and saw some of these gems. Most weren't restored but that made them even more interesting! Imagine camping with you family in some of these campers!!

If you are on the West Coast in May the best place to see a whole campground full of Vintage Trailers and RVs is,At Pismo Coast Village I stumbled on this annual event a few years ago and have been going every year, it is amazing.

My first road trip was in a borrowed homemade teardrop trailer like that. I was six years old and my Dad towed it with a brand new '52 Oldsmobile 88, using a bumper pull. My Mom and I slept in the trailer and my Dad slept in the back seat of the car. We made it to the Badlands of South Dakota and back to Cincinnati in two weeks. No expressways back then. About 3000 miles, all on secondary roads. No expressways back in 1952. The Interstate Highway Act wasn't passed until 1956.

Just came through Amarillo, TX a couple of weeks ago and toured the RV Museum there. Had some very interesting units there. Free admission to the museum,too.

I would love, love, love to have an old Silver Streak, Boles Aero or similar. Now that we have gotten used to a slideout and the extra space, don't know if I could go without one though. If I had a vintage trailer, I'd want it to be totally original.

Flippin' RVs - who woulda thought. I don't think we can get that on our satellite service at home but will look into it.

Try the 1961 retro 2015 Shasta Airflyte brand new but look like the old 1961s ones....... :)
