I agree completely with your assessment of the drivers on the road today. I do not see an immediate answer to it. Drive defensively as possible. I also stay in the right lane but that has its shortcomings too. People driving on the "on ramps" seem to think they have the right away. If I can't get over to let them on they simply challenge you. It seems that a lot of interstate drivers consider the RV driver their natural enemy. Back and secondary roads are actually more dangerous due to stop sign ignore'rs, and (head on) over the center line drivers.
Well I don''t always drive in the right lane due to the on ramps. If the interstate is three lanes I roll with the center lane, if in an area of few on ramps will drop back to the right.
When in The Coastal Towns of Oregon on 101, NEVER drive in the right lane! Always in the left lane, way too sudden right turns, people pulling out in front of you, doors popping open on the street side!!
I can easily get up to 30, even going up hill at 20,000#.
It will still amazes me that while traveling with traffic at 60 mph in a 55 zone, the cars that will be 1/4 to 1/2 mile back of you when we reach an area with a passing lane on the coastal highway and will go 70 to 75, or faster to catch up to pass just before the lane ends then slow down to 50!! :S :h
Just so you understand my thoughts it isn't speeding if you are keeping up with the line of traffic in front of you on a two lane road (within reason).
