Voltage at campground low ??

Ok when I’m plugged in at home my volt meter at the door of the MH read a little above 120
Here at the camp ground with my same cord it’s barlet in the green or like 110 volt
It’s a 30amp service in the motorhome and at the campground plug ??

  • Low camp site power is quite common. More than 10% low and your asking for trouble.
  • I'm not seeing a question here. It's not uncommon to find voltage variations at campgrounds - especially older ones. What SoundGuy is talking about is an EMS that will take your rig off-line if the voltage become low enough (or high enough) to damage appliances such as ACs, refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, etc. We have a 50-amp hardwired EMS in our RV and I wouldn't be caught without it. It has saved us thousands of dollars in damage over the last three years of full-timing.

That said, 100V is OK as long as it doesn't go any lower under a load.

  • As long as it maintains that voltage, it's fine. If it drops when air conditioner is on, that's not fine.
  • The key is that it still IS in the green.

Some systems, older ones especially, are perfectly "normal" with a voltage that low.

Might want to verify that with a second voltmeter though.....as you probably should be suspicious if it really is any lower than 110.
  • Ergo the reason every RV owner who plugs into campsite service would do well to protect their rig's electrical system with an EMS, the PI EMS-PT30X being an example.
