For the price of the tow setup for the DFs CRV I can purchase a buggie
and not deal with the brakes and such. OK now beat me up!!

  • I've had 2 baja Bugs, a '66 SCORE class 5-1600 race car and a '70 basic Bug with a baja kit. Both were very fun cars!

I would love to build another baja Bug, a SCORE/BITD class 5-Unlimited. They've opened up the rules to allow using water cooled engines up to 2.5 liters in 5-unlimited, which should be very fun! :B I'd like to build one with a Subaru boxer and a Mendeola 5 speed.

My '66. Should have never sold it.

I towed this behind my "B" for a few years and it did great.

  • I towed a Baja Bug for about 20k miles. Simple and fun for getting around. Finally sold it because we started going in all seasons and without a heater or AC it got a little uncomfortable. fun and easy to fix. Go for it
  • If you want a really fun tow vehicle without heat or any safety features to speak of and like to tinker, go for it! Hard to compare a VW dune buggy and a Honda CRV, they have nothing in common other than tires made of rubber, a steering wheel and powered by a gasoline engine. :)
  • If it meets your needs, go for it.
There are times when I wish I had mine back.
