Waldo Florida Spped Trap

He's covering up a sort of half arse crown moulding lap joint in my living room. Sorry but.....
Who ran your crown?

I know someone that got a speeding ticket for going UNDER the limit driving through Waldo years ago. IIRC, it was written up as a 38 in a 45.

Someone who was 35 miles from Home Depot and didn't wan to make the trip for another 14 foooter. Sometimes ya gotta compromise. :)

Been down this road before on these forums and some still don't get it. Call it whatever you want (revenue generator) or chicken soup. It's a posted speed limit. For what ever reason ... you speed, you get caught, you pay! I suppose some folks don't mind paying. But, everyone thinks they are "special" and above the law and the law shouldn't apply to them! OK. I'll stay on secondary roads anyway. (And don't let me pretend to be Mr. perfect either... I've paid a few speeding tickets in my life time, and been pulled over a few more and given a warning too).

Speed trap to me is when the intent of enforcement is financially based for a city rather than to solve a problem. An area that has few accidents should not have heavy enforcement. Sometimes cities lower speed limits in areas where no problems existed and then place police patrols along.

This situation occurred in Scottsdale, AZ along the 101 freeway. They placed many speed cameras that tripped at 11mph over. After legal challenges that there was never a speed related issue warranting the cameras and that the tickets did not lower accidents they were removed. It was clear that the purpose of the cameras was to raise money and not solve a traffic problem.

That said, I do not know the situation in Waldo but 'speed traps' do exist and they're wrong.

When a city is wrong it is wrong and it takes people to push back and get things set right. Who decides what the speed limit is and why? What if the limit is set in order to raise funds? Your take on this seems to be to just go with it and be an obedient citizen. I agree with obeying the law but when the law is wrong I push back and challenge it. I don't allow the city to use bogus laws without merit in order to make money.

I think the issue is whether the Police chief ordered the officers to write 12 tickets a shift. Not necessarily the speed limit changes. I believe ordering the officers to write a certain amount of tickets is a violation state or federal law.
The reason is to remove the potential of officers writing bogus tickets to stay out of trouble with the chief.

WALDO, Fla. - Two of the country's worst speed traps, according to AAA, are on a 20-mile road that runs through this North Florida town.

It's so bad an auto group posted a billboard warning of the rapid changes in speed limit.

In Missouri if more than a certain percentage of the town's income is from traffic tickets, things have to be changed. It has happened.
