use your mobile device or hard copy map and find an approved camp ground! Church parking lots and grocery store lots and Wal Marts are not camp grounds for Rv's or vans!
Plan your trip a little better to include plenty of rest areas that are approved for camping if you intend to stay for more than an hour!
Sad to see but I hope this trend comes to an end soon, sure don't want it in my neighborhood as I am sure you wouldn't want it in yours!!

Aside from the oxymoronic Walmart Etiquette (and those horrible pix of Walmartians that are now permanent burned into my eyeballs!), regardless of whether you're staying in a Walmart/Church/Home Depot/whatever parking lot, it probably would make more sense to inquire if the municipality has restrictions on such parking. Some do, some don't. Locally, Fort Collins CO has a prohibition; Loveland does not. The Walmart on West Eisenhower in Loveland looks like an RV park on most weekends.

Lived in Loveland for 50 years and pretty close to West Eisenhower. No WalMart in Loveland on West Eisenhower!

Proper etiquette would be to spend the night in a camp ground designed for your trailer,fifth wheel,motor home etc!

This practice was once a courtesy afforded by WM but got out of hand. Try deploying the slide outs at a highway rest stop,, bet you highway patrol doesn't allow it.

Many Walmarts encourage overnight parking. There's a lot of latitude between shopping and camping. That is overnightning.

Have not seen a Wally World yet with a-- 1 hour parking while shopping sign...
If you are concerned, ask the manager of the store. (preferably while pushing a full shopping cart) you may get a nicer response than "not in my neighborhood"

I doubt that for the folks that live next to a walmart that my trailer in the lot is their biggest concern. You obviously dont like to overnight at a WM so dont. No need to ramble on to the extreme of it becoming a gypsy camp LOL. Also I have had my slides out over the grass at many highway rest area and never had a problem with the highway patrol.

Seriously - one or two incidents at some back country Walmart don't equate to a country wide epidemic. People who squawk the loudest about etiquette on here should take a look at their responses to others - not necessarily in this thread...

Below is the policy as found on their site. It doesn't say that you cannot put out a slide. If I were to park overnight in one, I would have mine out, but I'm not going to be lounging in a chair outside. I, along with thousands of other RVer's are responsible people and we don't need a lesson in how to act - at a Walmart parking lot, a dump station, or what ever tiny issue causes your lather to foam.

If the types of people in those People of Walmart threads are tolerated by store management, an RV in the parking lot with a slide extended is the least of transgressions.
