- IndyCampExplorerIt's odd, but I find this thread to be hilarious (not the video, obviously).
That family has now been labeled "full timers" in an "RV" just because they were living out of their Suburban.
OK, I guess.
Ever hear celebrities like Jim Carrey, Jewel, Hilary Swank, or Chris Pratt talk being homeless before they were famous, and living in their cars/vans/trucks?
Why don't they realize they weren't "homeless," they were just "full-timers?!?!"
Please.
Living in your car in a Walmart parking lot does not make you an RV'er, and the distinction has nothing to do with RV'ers wanting to feel high and mighty, or somehow better than those who are homeless. - mich800Explorer

No one calls boats, quads, dirt bikes or wave runners as RV's.
The State of Michigan issues "Off Road RV Permits" and the sure as heck aren't for Class As going boondocking.
Michigan has ORV permits. Off Road Vehicle. - irishtom29Explorer

Oh, I think they're they're RVers, just not ones like you, or that you approve of. So maybe you want to redefine them because you don't want to be associated with such people, that's an old story. Don't worry about it.
Perhaps in your wisdom, you can point out "what" their RV is? That many folks in a 'burb does not constitute an RV.
Jim
The vehicle they were living in is an RV since they lived in it and were engaged in is the same activity called "RVing". They just had a particularly crowded and poorly equipped RV. The people in question are full timers, just as many participants here are. Come to think of it, that they were engaged in RVing, the verb, makes them RVers, regardless of the specific nature of their vehicle. You are what you do.
Listen Jim, nobody who signifies will think the less of you just because you have something in common with these people--most of us have something in common with people of whom we disapprove. - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerThat says more about the state of Michigan than it does about what constitutes the definition of 'RV'.

Jim
An RV is a recreational vehicle. Any vehicle used for recreation could be called an RV. A "camper" is actually designed for living and not necessarily recreation. Boats, quads, dirt bikes and wave runners are recreational vehicles (RVs).I
EDIT The term RVs was assumed by the camping community because it seemed more elite than campers. Just like "Weekend Warrior" use to mean members of the military reserve. Today, anyone who mows the lawn on Saturday is suddenly a "Weekend Warrior". - Jim-LindaExplorer II

Jim - buckyExplorer IIThey're lucky they didn't all get shot. Around here they would have. Interesting that the big dude never had a officer on him.
