One of the local Walmarts along the interstate had become a truck stop. Their parking lot would be packed with semis at night. So all night long all these trucks sat idling next to a residential area and other all night businesses and restaurants. Not only was there the noise from the idling semis but there was also the lot lizards showing up, cars pulling in all night long for quick stops and drops, trash blown from the lot into yards. When the Walmart was built they were notified the area zoning was not for overnight parking. Walmart ignored the warnings from the city and complaints so the city started fining them last fall. $500/day. A couple of weeks ago when the fine was over $18,000 Walmart finally decided to take action and post no overnight parking signs. It had gotten out of hand. Had it only been a semi or 2 or a couple of campers then no one would have likely said anything. When the parking lot became packed with all night idling semis and all the subsequent 'trash' then neighbors started complaining.
