I "think" there's a sign prohibiting overnight parking in the Walmart nearest us; but it's right off the interstate so that may be a good reason...

I agree. Profit is not a dirty word, although many in this country think so.

I have read that WalMart makes an average of $87.00, in sales, per overnight traveler.

Also, some of the newer WalMarts have very nice bus stops with shade, benches and all to create a stop for transit buses. What do you suppose that a rider waiting 30 or 45 minutes for their next bus is going to do? Shop inside! WalMart has the city bringing in customers by the bus load!! I know this because my wife was a transit driver.

You have to admire their marketing.

Walmart's policy allows overnight stays. Local ordinances sometomes prohibit overnight parking which trumps Walmart policy. An ordinance covering the particular Walmart parking lot you are considering staying at may or may not be in place. Don't depend on the pimple faced Walmart manager on duty at 8PM to be able to advise you. Call the local police or City Hall.

Walmart is not even on our list of places to stay.

To many people want 'free'...well 'hello'!!!!!

Pick a spot that is not out in the 'wide open' and be safe.
