  • There's a yahoo group I think called Walmart RVing that you can go on. They have lists of which ones allow overnighting, etc. You can even download the list into your Garmin GPS.
  • Hi,

Wal Mart has a don't bother to ask, and we don't really care.

More to protect themselves from someone saying "You said it would be safe to park here". And while most have no problems at all, you never know what could happen in a remote area or city parking lot once in a while.

I have parked overnight at Wal Mart or Sams club in several cities, for one night. Did not get out the BBQ or chairs, though some turn their place in the parking lot into a small campground. I wait to pull all that stuff out when I am out in the woods or a remote lake or something.

  • It helps to have a backup plan because getting information about whether it's okay to stay at a particular Walmart can be dicey. We often stay at Cracker Barrel. Most have long pull through RV spaces. At busy times the spaces may be filled with cars but the restaurants close at night and then the spaces will be empty. The spaces are about 40' long. Google map
  • Walmart corporate policy (Thanks Sam) is that overnight parking by RVs and Trucks is good with them. So, if you call the store and the manager says that they have no policy, that's OK, corporate does.

When ONP is prohibited, it is the result of a local ordinance (often the result of efforts by a nearby CG owner) or the rules of actual landlord of the property that Walmart is leasing.
