Warning -- fiberglass

Around this date every year authorities involved in use and manufacturing of products using poly-ester resins in fiberglass construction warn to be on the lookout for damage caused by the attack of poly-ester-mites . Inspect around all fiberglass in RVs, boats et al . Look for residue similar to waste left by termites around wood , except this will look similar to flour . April the first is the traditional day for this warning !
  • So that's what ate my Corvette. All this time I thought it was my cousin that borrowed it in 1966.
  • I don't shoot the Jack-a-lopes on my property for this very reason - they eat Polyester mites.
  • Thanks a good one thanks for sharing.

    I have another:
Our local radio station posted an article on their website. It seems their online folks were so popular that a station from Orlando, FL bought them, will keep a few folks in the local office station for interviews, weather, etc. but the rest of the crew would be moving to Orlando to broadcast nation-wide. It got some folks...in the fine print at the bottom of the page, that not everyone read, told the truth..."April Fools". Of course I didn't bite, I knew it wasn't true but it was an interesting way to start the day!

Unfortunately that April Fools Prank is happening around here. Except the locals don't move, they just get fired. It's a challenge to find a radio station with local DJs at all. My favorite morning show is history, and now I get to enjoy one from thousands of miles away that is totally unrelated to our locale. Joke's on me, I guess.
  • I am told that certain brands of RVs made with AZDEL-backed fiberglas and are impervious to these critters.....
  • Over 40 micro-organisms are known to flourish in jet fuel. Since fiberglass is a composite made of glass fiber and plastics, that are mostly petroleum bases, a micro-organism that attacks fiberglass is totally feasibe.
  • At least my rotten wood framed trailer will make it. It just won't have any insulation. Not that it does now.
