I understand what you are saying, but I do think there is a difference between a question with an 'answer' and a question that is going to unearth 'opinions.' Once a question has been answered, the thread dies. As far as the opinion ones - they go on and on.
I skip by a lot of the mindless stuff, and chime in when I think I can help. That said, I do find that I sometimes have to word my questions VERY carefully in order to make sure my search for an answer doesn't devolve into a thread of everyone's opinions. To me - that's the greater challenge we sometimes face on the forum.
