Retired at 62 after 35 yrs with same company and 40+ yrs working. No regrets. BUT. We have a small business the DW runs with me as Mr. fixit for the frequent needs of a general handyman requiring me to work a few hours each week. Fortunately we were financially prepared for it.
But a good friend and hunting buddy retired 2 yrs ago at 67 and has not been as happy with his decision even though he was also financially prepared. Another good friend retired then went back to work after a couple years because of being bored. Definitely a very personal decision and choice to make. Even after giving it lots of thought, you can still make the wrong decision (for yourself).
