Was retirement for you a good or not so good choice?

I was medically retired from the Air Force at 38 years old. Sent back from overseas with a temp disability retirement , evaluated at Keesler and Medical Board said to retire me. Wife, two teenagers, no car, no home, very little income. We made it work, stayed with family a bit and wife became a nurse and worked a lot. We got situated and were doing ok then we were rear ended. Wife has neck and back injuries, had to stop working and get disability. So we both are not able to work anymore.
