This year I hit the magical 84 and out. I got out. at age 57.
I watched numerous co-workers keep working past this point, for many different reasons. I also attended their funerals. I always said, when I get there, I'm gone. And I am.
Many of my younger co-workers kept saying I would be like the other old guys and stay way past retirement for what ever reason. I took advantage of these conversations and explained to these kids, it's not necessarily what you do at work that gets you to retirement, it's what you do at home. Be smart, and start planning now.
They now follow us on different sites, as we travel the country, they can see what it means to plan.
So, yes, it was good choice.
