I just read in the manual, Page 57 in this PDF ... the page number is 51, that leaving water in the water heater can contaminate and permanently damage the water heater. We left the camper a week ago...

I guess if you live in Florida you don't have to worry about winterizing it, but I still think it is a good idea to drain the water heater at least annually and wash out any "sediment" or other gunk that may have accumulated unless you use it all the time. If you use it frequently it will stay flushed out on its own. I think it would have to sit unused for a very long time to really cause a serious problem.
