I understand if your rig is going to be sitting for a while (months) or for the winter, but even then, when I come back from trips and have extra water I drain the tank using 5 gallon pails and water the yard with them. I also put a 5gal bucket in the shower in the stick house and collect the water while it it getting hot for the same reasons.
Guess my main thing is please try to not waste water..

X2 on the wasting of water. We also do the same as you are doing. We only use the water for showering and the toilet, so I don't always dump the fresh water tank every time. JMO
