BTW I carport ours. Meaning. I set the support legs on the ground
The OP is talking about an electric awning, so there are no support legs. It has a retractable arm that holds the awning out.
That being said, the dealer told us during PDI that during a normal rain storm, the awning will automatically shed rain, but if it is a heavy rain storm, the awning should be tilted or retracted.
I've see it shed rain, it just dips one end and releases the pooled rain. To me, the whole point of the awning is to keep the patio dry. I would rather not retract the awning because it is raining. However, I don't want to damage the awning, so I'll take a wet patio over a damaged awning.
I love the convenience of the electric awning, but I prefer the functionality of the manual awnings.
