Water pump runs when not using water

I guess I coming to realize that there are a lot of places for the water to leak other than the straight lines from the pump to the water faucets. That includes the pump itself. I am kind of anxious now to get the trailer dewinterized and see if the problem is still evident.

My water heater pressure relief valve leaks when hot. You can see it is wet. But the water vaporizes.

I only heat the water when I need it. One of these days I will replace the valve.

So, before you do anything, check to make sure all of those screws are tight or not missing completely.

Yep, always go for the simple stuff first, starting at the source.

One thing I recommend, provided there is space, is an accumulator tank, like what Shurflo offers. That will help with short-cycling of a pump.

I had that problem once and it turned out to be the water heater drain plug was leaking about a teaspoon an hour. It never leaked enough to drip on the ground, just a little puddle inside the cover. Probably evaporated faster than it was leaking. May not be your problem but something to check if it continues. Also have had a leak so small you had to run your hand over the fitting to feel the moisture but was enough to cause the pump to cycle periodically.

Running on the pump once in awhile is a good idea just to make sure you don't have a hidden leak someplace.

Good idea. I will try that if my pump continues to have this issue when I dewinterize it this year.

Yah, I can get a shur flow pump for about $60 on amazon.com. And they are clearly not hard to install. So, if my current pump keeps acting up, I will just replace it. I am confident that there is no leak in the water lines.

If it is going on at all other than to fill the ice maker, you either have a leak of a check valve in the pump is bad.
If it is a a leak you would have spotted it.
I don't know where to get parts for the pumps. Aqua Flow wouldn't sell me any but would repair, if repairable for 62.00, I think I remember. Shipping both ways made it about as expensive as new r more.
A new pump from American Coach, at rally was 149.00 and they installed it free,
Just a few screws and two clips on.
Just a few screws, two hos clips, and one electrical cal plug.
A switch is bad on my old one, I believe is all.
Chang the pump and work on the old one,for a spare, when you get the opportunity.
