Water tank drains ?

This may be a dumb question, depending on who you ask but;Was reading an RV Book about water systems and they showed a drain for the water tank. I have a 1987 Minnie Winnie and can't locate said drain.
Do ALL RV's have a drain for the water tank/s. I just ran the faucet through the Grey drain to remove the water.

  • One of the nice features of Winnebago is that the manuals and diagrams, plumbing, electrical are online. Unfortunately, they only go back to 1990, but maybe your coach model was still in production. If not, find a similar layout and you might get a clue as to where to look.

Mine was under the fold out bed and took a mirror and flashlight to find, but at least the diagram showed me where to look.

My question was about the factory's response. They have a phone number that provides tech support. That would be the first place I'd try before posting on a forum.

My Winnebago has the fresh water tank drain right between the water tank and the water pump. They are all located under the bed. I have to slide the mattress sideways a couple of feet, and there is a 9x9 (approximately) hole I can reach down into. It also has shutoff valves for the outside shower in case I want to winter camp without having the outside shower freeze.

Try looking under the camper for a drain hose hanging down, you might be able to get an idea where the valve is inside (if it has one).
  • I would think it has a drain as it's a Winnebago. You may need to look for it. Some are harder to find than others.
  • do all ? probably not. should they....absolutely !

My fresh water tank(s) are under the bed & the tank drain is under there w/ them.
Some coaches have a low point & tank drain outside or behind a panel.
