Waxing questions

Hi all I've been trying to read as much as possible on here as we have just purchase a 2003 Kodiak. I was able to get it nice and clean but the finish is pretty dull, especially the front. Would I be able to just use a good wax or do I need to use a few different products before? I've seen kits on amazon that include oxidation removers and polish in addition to the wax. Thanks for any input.

  • Any wax with carnuba in it should restore the shine.
I use Johnson's Kit, but there are others too

  • I just went over my 2005 with Zep "wet look" floor polish after washing. It took four coats, but it now has a nice shine. I had also used Barkeepers Friend to remove the black streaks, spots and stuck on crud.

The nice thing about the Zep is that unlike wax all you have to do is keep adding to the sponge and continue wiping it on giving it a couple minutes in between to dry. It takes very little effort and there is no need to "wipe off". The more you add, the more shine you get.
  • Most of the camper has a slight shine just needs a refreshing. The front is very dull with no shine. Should I use anything before the wax? I ordered the collinite fleet wax.
  • Zep wet look floor finish - popular product which is easy to use and makes old rigs look new. Lots of threads on the subject -- use forum search feature using Red Max Pro & Zep wet look.
  • If you have a power buffer get the liquid fleet wax. Otherwise paste fleet wax. It takes work but looks good after your done
  • Also which Collinite product are people using. Looks like a bunch of types when I searched it
  • What kind of surface? Fiberglas, then McGuires or Collinite are great products that produce a good shine and last a long time.
