WD front end is light

To finish the OP I found the owners manual and read that I am to start with 6 (I have 5 on there now) and a max of 9. I went by lone star rv and they gave me washers as extras just sitting around. getting it adjusted this week and will try how it feels this weekend.

More than one of us has made that argument. A more heavy duty truck will usually make towing easier and more fun.

Based on your post, it's not clear if you even have a WD (weight distributing) hitch.

We recently purchased a 2013 laramie longhorn dodge ram truck 1500 with 5.7 hemiv8. Then a month or so later we decided to buy the TT.. We purchased the Dutchman Kodiak ultalite 30 ft..after having ran it for a trial camping trip last week. My husband says the front of the truck feels like its lifting off the road..any suggestions? The dodge dealership suggested the air bags.. But Camping World said with the air suspension, that is a no go..my husband also feels like hes fighting the steering wheel..Camping world suggested a web site called steer safe..their web site doesnt list a 2013 dodge ram..we verified our towing capability and we are well under the amount and have been assured the truck can more than haul our TT.. i had this thread under Dodge trucks and they suggested the equalizer hitch. we dont have any sway..but do notice a jerking movement of the truck. we have a sway bar of some type they gave us when we purchased the TT in March..and have only taken it out once, but have a long distance trip soon,.newbies here..would Appreciate any help! because my husband keeps looking at larger trucks and hes only had this one a few months!! too early to trade!!heaven help me!!lol

The hitch head is designed to limit how many washers and how much angle you can achieve. You can't have "too much" in the respect of exceeding the capability of the hitch itself.

"Too much" would be if you overload the front axle, or lift so much weight off the rear axle that you start having traction problems.

That said, 60lbs on the front is not going to cure your problem. More investigation is necessary to find out what the real issue is.

The bars do not need to be parallel to the A-frame,
but they do need to be perpendicular to the L-brackets.

If the bars are parallel to the A-frame,
but are not perpendicular to the L-brackets,
you will not have proper contact between bars and brackets.

When setting up my Equal-i-zer initially, I hook everything up and then loosen the L bracket bolts. I take a carpenters square and make sure the L brackets are 90* to the bars. There is enough slop in the bolts to allow a couple of degrees of movement. Rarely are the bars perfectly parallel to the frame, so squaring with the frame is not always ideal.

This give maximum contact for sway control and minimizes noise also.

If it is an Equal-i-zer 4-way, it can have maximum of 8 washers. Never seen a 2-way, but manual should say.

If the load on the TV's front axle is greater with TT attached and WD applied than when the TV is unhitched --

you have too much ball mount rearward tilt angle which is caused by too many washers.
