You might find you are pushing it towing with the Ranger (what year?). I think you will be much happier just using the F250 to tow with.
I suspect the same. The F250 will do a much better job, and the Ranger probably won't get better fuel economy either.
The F250 is WAY OVERKILL for the little trailer we are planning to get. I thought about a 150 but with a 900+ lb Harley in the bed it would put it to close to GVW for my liking for any long distance driving. The Ranger will be towing a touch over 4K, it will be fine for short stuff.
