We cross the border almost weekly as we live close to the border. My wife got a different car and last week we took it across and the American customs guy asked why we had this car. I told him we just bought it and he said ok it is now in the system. Most likely the licence number is what they record. They know what's going on!
They know who you are before you pull into the gate. that's what all those cameras are for.
they run your tags and know pretty much every thing about you before they say Good Morning.
Yup. Having lived in four countries and travelled extensively in others, crossing borders for the last 70 years has been a routine with the occasional exception of coming back into the US. A crossing from Switzerland into Germany was a bit scary. We're driving in our 70's Gremlin and after the formalities we proceeded thru the checkpoint only to hear "HALT" by this very big uniformed guy. All sorts of oh oh thoughts ran thru our heads.
He wanted to see what engine was in the strange car.
