We bought ours at Walmart. You can either program the exact county where you are, or leave it on "all" counties which we do. That way we get alerts earlier and can tell which way the storm is coming and how fast. We've used it all over the US. Only $38. We leave it plugged in all the time. It has battery backup. I think 2 would be safer. We have ours in the bedroom so it will awaken us.
