Weber Q200 regulator question

Don't know why it would go bad, but I've heard that they do from time to time.

It is fairly common on Weber Q Grills for the regulator to go bad. The next time it fails on you, you may want to upgrade the replacement regulator like shown here: Weber Q regulator replacement. Reading the comment section below the video is also informative.

I've used Weber Q grills for many years. The regulators are a problem. I've had to replace 3. Weber will give you all kinds of grief but will usually replace them. They told me not to use anything but the 1lb tank. Told me to turn it on slowly in steps not all at once and something else. Of course none of their telephone support suggestions are in the written literature.

I have two Q-200's and have used them for 8 years at home and with the trailer. I have never had a regulator go bad but I have had the regulator safety shut-off kill the flow on occasion while on 20-lb tanks. I would have to clear the propane line by shutting off the tank valve, opening the grill regulator and bleed it off. Then I would slowly turn the tank valve back on.

I never use the grill igniter, I use a bbq lighter.

Mine went bad after about 2 years....I called Weber customer service and they sent me a new one free...

Worth a try.

Before I removed our regulator to convert our Weber Q2000 to low pressure propane to run off of the trailer's propane line, I installed one of these filters on it to protect the regulator: Mr. Heater Propane Filter

I have had 2 fail on my Q220 as well. I did manage to get one of them covered by Weber. A fellow I work with had one fail too.

They gave me all sorts of "tips" via email as well such as using only the 1 lb bottles or if a larger tank is to be used to only use the Weber adapter hose. The Weber adapter hose failed in about 2 years too so I'm back to using a cheaper hose and all is fine so far.

They are definitely a known problem area on these grills. I love Weber grills (I have a NG Genesis at home too), but I am definitely disappointed in the regulator issues.

Add me to the list of love 'em / hate 'em Weber owners as well - since 2002 I've owned a Q100 for 8 yrs, then a Q120 which I still have for camping along with a Q220 for use here at the house. I've replaced the regulator on all of them multiple times, finally gave up on Weber replacements and as so many others have done finally put together my own regulator replacement parts. A series of 5 pics which include part numbers starts here ... finally my regulator issues have been solved. :B

I've had 2 fail in 1 year, fortunately both failures were in Quartzsite a year apart and regulators are easy to find there. I now carry a spare

Take their regulator off and convert the grill to use a cheap regulator/hose that you can buy anywhere. (I did, to use it with my trailer's low pressure propane.)
