weight distribution sway control suggestion

I am tired of hearing my friction bar growl. Hitch weight on my nomad should be around 700 to 800 pounds . 450 dry add 36 water 60 propane on 27 foot trailer. Would a Reese straight line 66074 be appropriate for this set up. Tv ford 2013 f250 6.2. any other suggestion would be helpfull

To the OP, I have a new Equilizer but they can/do growl too; If I were you, I'd check out the new Anderson hitch that seems to work nicely with the lighter tongue weights like your setup. The Andersen's a new concept that seems to work well with the small to mid sized trailers.
  • A small dab of Vasoline where the arms meet the cams will quiet the creaking noise on the Reese hitch.
  • I am very happy with my Reese Strait Line. It creaks and pops sometimes at low speeds, though. You might want to look at the 800 pound bars, though.
  • I have the Blue Ox Sway Pro and after I finally got it dialed in correctly must admit I really like it. My hitch weight is about 810 lbs. First time out with it I had to much weight distributed to the front wheels of the F350 and the ride was harsh. 2nd time out I fixed the weight distribution after carefully measuring everything and setting it up correctly instead of the sloppy mess the dealer had it set up but I was getting some sway under modeate to heavy braking. Finally figured I had to much weight in the back of the Travel traler so moved alot of stuff to the front bedroom on the trailer for travel and now the excessive sway under moderate braking is gone although you still get some under extremly heavy braking.
  • If you want Silent then you want the Blue Ox SwayPro. The Dual Cam can make a lot of noise as well. But it can also be quieter than a standard set up.
