Well, I just did "it" again! Drats!

Winterizing that is! Yea! Really!

Temps have been pretty nice in Indiana the last few weeks. I think everyone thought old man winter finally left! But no! That weather man on television said Sunday morning (tomorrow) should be around 28 degrees. I wouldn't be concerned about winterizing again if it was warmer in the day time and dipped to 28 over night. But today, it's just been dang cold, windy and absolutely yucky weather.

Considering the temps are already low, the trailer and all the pipes are already cold, I don't think it would take much to get them frozen now. So, rather than risk frozen pipes, I went shopping for some more Pink Stuff and couldn't find any. So I fell back to plan "B". I simply blew out the lines this time and opened the low point drains.

I had a small amount of "pink" from last fall left. I used that in the P-traps.

At least when we get ready for our next trip in about a week, I won't have flush the pink from the lines! Makes me glad I know how to winterize both ways!

Dang weather! Grass needs mowing now, and several folks around me have already mowed their grass. Just this last week I removed the snow blower from my John Deere tractor and put the mower deck back on. Looks like I should have kept the snow blower on a little longer instead! I haven't mowed MY grass yet! Maybe it will freeze and simply break off!

Thanks for letting me rant!

  • We just got back a couple hours ago from Florida. It was snowing hard in Ohio, through the construction on top of that. I'm ready to go back south. I don't think I'll winterize though, maybe drain the water heater and quick blow out the lines. But, that will be tomorrow, I'm tired from driving. I'll just go out and turn the furnace on a low setting.
  • It's now 6:28 and it's now SNOWING! REALLY!

About 3 hours ago we lost all power to the house. High winds are above 50 mph and parts of Indiana are having gusts over 60 mph. I hooked up the generator. Ran 2 lines in the house. One is powering the television, the internet modem, the router, blower on the fireplace, and 2 laptops. The other line is powering the refrigerator and freezer.

Wife wants to sleep in the camper tonight and plug into the generator so we can have the furnace for heat. Fire place in the house is nice, but everything will be cold in the morning if the fire goes out. I can switch the generator to the trailer and not worry about the refrigerator and freezer in the house and turn everything else off, giving more power to the camper.

No clue when power will come back on. It DOES make me glad I winterized that camper earlier today after all. Snow, it's still coming down pretty hard! I SHOULD have left that snow blower attached a little longer!

Ohio and Eastward, this is coming your way, if it's not there already. Winds are blowing from the West, North-West! Really a bad storm ... funny, no rain at all, except the snow flakes, and it's being called a "storm"! Wow!
  • I was going to do some of that spring stuff TODAY, but the temperature is dropping, and it is windy out there (sure glad I got that dead ASH tree cut down on Wednesday---it threatened the TT/TV all winter).

I refused to push the mower around the house this early, but the neighbor cut his grass, so I felt quilty and did the parts where I could sit on my @$$ and drink a beer.

I still need to do the "spring tune-up" regiment on the lawn equipment. I just threw the battery in the mower, checked the dirty oil, and whacked at the weeds with those blades that need sharpened.

Haven't de-winterized the TT, yet. Sometimes procrastination pays off :B

For the record....Chainsaw, Blower & Riding mower, HD and 50cc scooter all fired up with out issue on last years gas, dirty air-cleaners, and not so new spark-plugs. Thank you stabil
  • We're in for some snow and cold weather as well with couple of nights down in the teens. With the extremely mild weather we had all last Winter long, I'm not complaining one bit. Never even got the snow shovel out, let alone the plow or snow blower. Swept the walkway twice with a broom. :)

And frost in the ground? What frost? :@

We suppose to get your cold weather tomorrow here in Virginia.. All I did was unhook the cold water hose and layed it on the ground here at the house...

Looks like my bird water is going to freeze over too... Cardinals and Robins are out full force today...

My OFF-ROAD Camper hasn't moved yet this spring... This is the beauty of doing the blow out method for my small trailer. I just add water to the fresh water tank and hit the road...
