If the retardation effect from taking your foot off the gas exceeds the amount of grip at the driving wheels, then you WILL lose control! Maybe a reduced amount of deceleration is "A Good Thing" under these circumstances. The vehicle WILL slow down due to wind resistance and friction alone.
And a vehicle with ABS will NOT lock the wheels if the brakes are applied.
I'd suggest that "Legal Forum" needs to bring itself up to date!
....if I am in a "slide", the first thing I try and determine (in a millisecond) is: are the rear wheels in a slide (broken loose)? Are the front wheels in a slide (broken loose)? Are all 4 wheels in a slide? Then, I apply correstive measures (I recommend anyone driving through winters {even on route to a snowbirding locale} take a skid control course).
