The first tool I bought for my motorhome was a #2 Robertson (square drive) screwdriver. It's pretty much impossible to do much of any repair without it.
I think the second tool I got was a cheap multimeter. The usual pliers and adjustable wrench and other basic staples round things out. A jack and lug wrench and small compressor of some sort are obvious additions, as is a ladder sufficient to get you on the RV roof if you don't have one attached. (The compressor, of course, needs to be sufficiently capable to pump up your tires. The $20 cigarette lighter inflators don't really work on motorhome tires worth a hoot, despite their ambitious pressure claims. Maybe they would get there eventually if you were willing to listen to them grind away for hours on end.)
I think someone here recommended as the most important tool some small printed plastic rectangles which generally have numbers embossed on them; the printing usually says something like Visa, Mastercard, etc. There's something to be said for that.
