I approach this issue by thinking about the things that will break and get me stuck somewhere. I'd like to be able to extricate myself and get to a place where permanent repairs can be done. So I carry tools/spares/fixes for things like hose leaks, fuel blockage, ignition issues and electrical problems.
Spare hose clamps, duct tape, muffler tape, epoxy, a few hand tools and a good hammer. A multimeter, spare light bulbs and some wire takes care or electrical issues. I carry motor oil, antifreeze mix, wheel chocks and reflecting hazard triangles.
It's a good idea to go through your "justin case" stash yearly and take out anything that hasn't been touched in 2 years.
