Here's what has/may break or happen on trips that might need attention:
- The water pump may fail ... carry a spare one.
- Hot water heater and refrigerator igniters may fail ... carry spares.
- Carry a spare tire and the tools to jack up the RV and mount the tire ... cell phones don't always show enough bars to call for help.
- Bring along lights to work on problems outside in the dark.
- Have more than one way to recharge the coach batteries.
- Have a ladder (built-in or portable) at all times to gain access to the roof.
- Bring some caulking and Eternabond along in case unexpected leaking shows up in the rain on camping trips.
- Carry a shovel and boards to get un-stuck.
- Carry spare engine lubricants and a spare serpentine belt.
- Carry a heavy tow chain or strap along capable of dealing with the size RV you have.
- Have a "junk drawer" in the RV with everything stuffed into it that you can think of ... tape, glue, screws/nuts/washers, flashlight batteries, scissors, twine, etc..
- Carry some spare fresh water system tubing and fittings along.
- Bring along a main and spare black tank sewer hose.
- Carry along a main and spare fresh water filling hose.
- Bring along a spare water filter if your RV has a fresh water filtration system.
- Bring along some way of airing up any tire on the RV.
- Bring along spare computer and phone charging cables.
- Bring along every possible tool you can afford and find a place to store.
We comply with everything showing in the list above - and more - whenever we travel in our 24 foot Class C motorhome. Of course it goes without saying that one should take care of every required maintenance issue and every reasonable preventative maintenance issue before starting out on each RV trip. We have had some really weird things show up on RV trips - one cannot be too prepared.
