"In The Eye Of All Trade" A historical book dealing with Bermuda's shipbuilding, island life & trade in the period from basically the rescue of the Jamestown colony in 1610 all the way through to the US war of independence.
Some facinating information in that book.
At the turn of the century, 1700, Bermuda's trading fleet was second only to Boston in numbers.
A man sailing to Bermuda with funds to be used to start a school there missed the island because of storms & wound up in Rhode Island where the funds came to be used in the founding of Harvard & Yale.
