This is the fellow that the character of James Bond was based on, though very very loosely. Ian Fleming was part of his staff during the war. Hollywood, being Hollywood, went & changed the character beyond recognition however the real life William Stephenson, a Canadian, very quietly had a great influence on the war through his contacts & acting as middleman between the US & British Governments long before the US entered the war.
You read this book & link it with events of the war & you go "Ah Ha! That is why this happend where & when it happened".
A great read.
